Community Involvement

Westerra Development Co. and Voyager Development Company are pleased to announce their partnership with Peak Vista Community Health and the Ronald McDonald House Charities to provide free storage space for the new Peak Vista Community Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, a mobile medical unit that will be able to provide health care and dental services to our communities.

There are 35 of these units across the nation, but this is the first one that is "green" and energy efficient and runs on bio-diesel and back-up hybrid batteries.

Inside the mobile unit you’ll find dental exam rooms that can be converted into medical exam rooms.

This, just one way of bringing health care right to our children's' front step, and Westerra Development and Voyager Development Company are proud to be a small part of that.

"It is so important for people who face access barriers to get into their communities right where they live,” said David Pump of Peak Vista Community Health Center.  (www.peakvista.org)

Westerra Development Co. prides itself on being a local developer and being a part of our Pikes Peak community.  We recently had the opportunity to sponsor Marilyn Munkres, local senior weightlifter, at the World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Kazincbarcika, Hungary. Marilyn came in 1st place and broke a world record.  Congratulations to Marilyn and the entire USA Women's Weightlifting Team!

Because Colorado is becoming more and more a water-wise state, Cheryl Provence, Executive Assistant, is excited to talk about her work with Water Returns, a new water and landscaping conservation education program in Colorado Springs. Westerra Development is one of the sponsors.

Classes began on April 26, 2008 with approximately 40 homeowners from various areas in the Pikes Peak region. Class topics have included basic landscaping conservation practices, efficient and beautiful landscape design, irrigation system know-how, troubleshooting landscaping problems, and winterizing the landscape.  You can access additional information about the program through Cherokee Metropolitan District's website at http://www.cherokeemetro.org/#WtrReturns.

Donations can be made to this non-profit program through the Pikes Peak Community Foundation website at http://www.ppcf.org/giving.php?fundid=117.
Colorado Springs Housing and Building Association (CSHBA) provides the Pikes Peak region's builders and developers a voice and platform for change and growth in the community.  Westerra Development has been a proud member of the HBA for many years, participating in its community outreach programs and events, like the Parade of Homes. In 2008, the HBA sponsored the first annual Remodeled Parade of Homes.

The HBA is also instrumental in providing quality educational training to the business community, including twice-yearly MetroStudy market updates, and a State of the Economy presentation by UCCS professor and renowed economist, Fred Crowley.
Westerra Development is glad to be a financial partner with various local charitable organizations, including MDA, Partners in Housing, CASA, Junior Achievement, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, Pikes Peak Sertoma, and Goodwill.
